Nyx 330 with LED

For Nyx 330 we have two exchangeable LED solutions. They will be ready by the end of 2010.

Osram: 30 W LED type STREETlight Advanced which meets the EN 13201 standard for street lighting. Particularly suitable for poles of 5 meter. 3000 or 6000 Kelvin

Philips: Fortimo LInear Light Module with an output of  1800 or 1100 lumen. Particularly suitable for poles from 3 to 4.5 meter. 3000 or 4000 Kelvin (light output of  64 and 72 lm/w respectively)

LEDs in Focus luminaires

LED is the great buzzword in the lighting industry today. The small diode with the great potential will be here, there and everywhere in a short time. Because of its long lifetime, LED runs perfectly along with another buzzword, namely sustainability. Or almost perfectly. It is not sustainable if you have to throw out the luminaire together with the LEDs because it is not exchangable or because you cannot buy a similiar LED. LEDs are developing so fast that none of us can predict what will be available in six months - let alone in five years when today's LEDs must be expected to be outdated.

At Focus Lighting we endeavour to make LED solutions that are ready for future developments. Our luminaires have always had a long lifetime - and we are not going to change that fact. In most of our luminaires the electric components are mounted on an exchangable chassis. This will also be the case with most of our LED solutions. We secure our luminaires for the future by offering LEDs and drivers which can be replaced by the electronics prevailing in durability and energy savings at any time. - This is sustainability in our terms.

Nyx 190 with LEDs

Nyx 190 is now available with six LEDs, type DragonEye 1.2 W, on a chassis. The consumption of the total system is 9.2 W. This model is developed for mounting on the Nyx Bollard, and due to the light direction and the output ratio of 69 per cent, it is possible to place the bollards with a distance of 14-15 metres between them. In the case of a 2 metre wide footpath, uniformity is as high as 17 per cent, and we meet the requirements of 2.5 lux. The colour temperature chosen is 3000 K but daylight 5400 K is also a possibility.

The Nyx bollard is available in two heights: 1000 and 1200 mm (class I and II). The Nyx Bollard 1200 is equipped with a lid and can be connected by two 5x6 mm2 cables.

Punkt Lamps 90, 110 and 150

We refrain from our chassis principle and have built the 90, 110, and 150 mm diameter Punkt Lamps with up to 12 W LED as an integral part of the luminaire. This solution offers an output ratio of 86 per cent. Furthermore we obtain very low glare figures, the highest value being 14.4 UGR. With a Ra value of more than 90, the colour rendering is close to that of incandescent and halogen lamps. Due to the heat generation, Punkt Lamps with LEDs are for un-insolated ceilings only. The two bigger versions will be dimmable (1-10 V).

We work with LEDs in the Focus products where LEDs are a better solution or at least as good as an existing lamp. In some cases LEDs are not an issue because the output, the colour and other lighting characteristics are not competitive with existing technologies. In other cases we find the price of LEDs too high to justify minor energy savings compared with other energy-saving lamps. If, for instance, you have to exchange outdated 50-80 watts mercury lamps, you will be able to obtain huge savings by applying well-known technology in the form of 26 watts compact fluorescent now. And on the chassis, LEDs are still an option when the technology is competitive.

Square 250

We have developed a chassis for the Square 250 with eight LEDs, type DragonEye 1.2 W. Together with the driver they have a total consumption of 11.7 W. Six of the LEDs are directed downwards and two upwards. Being able to minimise lighting loss and direct the light as required, we obtain an output ratio of 80 per cent.
